Gabriel Paiuk

Composer and pianist born in 1975 in Buenos Aires. 
His work involves the articulation of different sources: acoustic instruments, diverse electronic media and field recordings. 
He was awarded the Gaudeamus Prize 2006 for his electronic work/sound installation Res Extensa.
His works have been performed by the Slagwerk Den Haag, ASKO ensemble, Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Kwartludium, Alexander Bruck and Quinteto Sonorama among others. 
He is currently living in The Netherlands where he’s carrying out a Master of Arts at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, thanks to the support of an HSP Huygens scholarship. 
He has been commisioned by the Warsaw Autumn Festival,  Slagwerk Den Haag,  Gaudeamus Foundation, Ciclo de Música Contemporánea del Teatro San Martin and Centro de Experimentación del Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires). He participatedin the MetropolenProjekt Berlin-Buenos Aires 2004  and as pianist on the Keith Rowe Electroacoustic Ensemble in 2003
He received a grant from the National Arts Fund of Argentina to attend and participate at the 2006 Darmstadt International summer Course.
As a pianist/improvisor he developed a particular set of extended  techniques and has colaborated with artists like Axel Dorner, Jason Kahn, Keith Rowe, Andrea Neumann, Burkhard Beins, Rhodri Davies, Gunter Mueller, Lucio Capece, Robin Hayward, Sergio Merce and others, performing in venues and festivals in Berlin, Brussels, Barcelona, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Fresnes-en-Woevre and New York. 

Since 2001 he is stable composer of the La Otra dance company, regularly staging works for dance and music in important theatres and festivals in Buenos Aires. 

During 2009 he was academic director of the CEAMC (Center for Advanced Studies in Contemporary Music) in Buenos Aires. From 2004 to 2009 he worked as a sound design teacher within the theatre area of the C.I.C. (Center for Cinematographic Investigations) in Buenos Aires.
Since 2001 he’s stable composer of the dance-theater company “La Otra - compañia argentina de baile” presenting works and performances in the most relevant theatres in Buenos Aires.
